An angelinforms them that Jesus has risen. They are initially afraid, but the angel tellsthem to inform the disciples. Jesus later appears to Mary Magdalene, whothen tells the disciples. - P109

Jesus Christ has risen from the dead! An angel proclaims this good newsto Mary Magdalene, another Mary, and Salome. They are told to go andshare with Peter and the other disciples that they are to see Jesus in Galilee.
The women are understandably afraid of this unexpected encounter. WhenMary Magdalene later tells the mourning disciples that Jesus is alive andthat she has seen Him, they do not believe her. Yet, this miraculous storypersists in sparking faith.  - P110

Thousands of years later, people continue to believe in Jesus. They come to faith by hearing God‘s holy Word. They hearand accept the gospel, which is the good news of Jesus Christ dying forsin and conquering death itself. Then they respond with obedience to Hisword - P110

A few witnesses are specifically mentioned at the time of Jesus’ death on the cross: a military commander and select women. Immediately upon Christ’s death, the centurion recognizes Jesus as the true Son of God and proclaims this aloud. The female believers who are watching from a distance already know what the centurion has just realized, having seen the love and power of Jesus in Galilee and Jerusalem. - P104

Both the centurion and the women reflect our experience of the Christian faith. - P104

The moment we encounter Jesus in the reading and hearing of God’s Word, we cannot help but acknowledge and proclaim who He is. - P104

Let us continue to follow and serve Jesus Christ as we grow in our understanding of Him. - P104

Joseph of Arimathea, a rich and reputable member of the Jewish court,
boldly goes to Pilate and asks for Jesus‘ body. This story does not merelyset the stage for Christ‘s resurrection in the following chapter; it highlightsthe love and honor Joseph has for his King.  - P104

Joseph pays respect to Jesus bycarefully taking down His body from the cross, wrapping it in linen, andplacing it in what is most likely one of his own family tombs. In the samemanner, may we as disciples today maintain this posture of honor for theChrist who is no longer dead but risen and alive.  - P104

Let us take courage andboldly live as His followers, giving Him our personal best. - P104

˝큰 위기를 통과했다면 아주 작은 일에도 깨어 있어야...

"큰 위기를 통과했다면 아주 작은 일에도 깨어 있어야 합니다. 방치된 사소한 유흔들‘을 신경 쓰십시오." 어쩌면 가장 위험한 때는 ‘엄청난 위기‘를 지나고 난 후찾아올 수 있습니다. ‘방치된 사소한 유혹들 처럼 무서운 것이 없습니다. 눈에 잘띄지 않지만 그 자리에 늘 도사리고 있습니다! 경계하지 않으면 언제 우리를 넘어뜨릴지 모르는 것들입니다.  - P131

챔버스는 경고합니다. "경계하지 않은 장점들은 두 배로 약한 약점들이 됩니다.
왜냐하면 ‘방치된 사소한 유혹들이 경계하지 않은 장점들을 통해 침입해 들어오기 때문입니다. 성경의 인물들은 자신의 장점 때문에 무너졌지 그들의 약점때문에 무너진 적이 없습니다."  - P131

하나님께서 우리에게 주신 장점과 사역의 승리를 통해 교만을 슬쩍 집어넣는 것이 악마의 전략일지도 모릅니다. 그러니 우리가 깨어 있어야 합니다. 깨어 있다는 것은 늘 하나님의 보호하심 아래에 있는 것입니다.

본문 속 "하나님의 약속은 얼마든지 그리스도 안에서 예가 되니"라는 부분은 후반부의 ‘아멘‘과 짝을 이룹니다. 하나님께서 ‘예‘라고 말씀하신 부분에 대하여 우리가 ‘아멘‘ 하면 하나님께 영광이 된다는 말입니다. 우리의 능력을 보면 의심할 수 있으나, 하나님의 약속과 말씀에 대하여는 ‘아멘‘ 할 수 있어야 합니다. "제 힘으로는 할 수 없습니다"라는 말은 겸손하게 들리지만 무척 교만한 말입니다. 기준이 하나님의 약속에 있지 않고, ‘자신‘
에게 있기 때문입니다. - P132

 "당신은 주님께서 ‘너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을너희에게 더하시리라‘(마 6:33)고 말씀하셨는데도 불구하고 감히 걱정함으로 하나님을 모욕한 적은 없습니까?"  - P132

걱정은 하나님을 향한 모욕입니다. 게으른 자는 언제나 걱정과 핑계가 있습니다. 영단어 ‘worry‘의 어원은 마음이 나누어져 있다‘는 뜻입니다. 예수님이 우리에게 말씀하신 "염려하지 말라"는 말씀은 ‘하나님을믿는 마음‘을 나누지 말라는 뜻입니다. 영적인 일은 자신의 능력이 아니라, 약속하신 성령님에 의해 평가됩니다. 그러므로 우리 대답은 성령을 받았는지의 여부에 달려 있음을 명심하십시오.

29Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, "So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,

30come down from the cross and save yourself!"

31In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. "He saved others," they said, "but he can’t save himself!

32Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

They accuse Jesus of being unable to save Himself even though He saved others. Jesus could, of course, save Himself, but He chooses to remain on the cross. - P100

He bears the insults and the suffering for His people. This is part of His mission to fulfill the will of the Father and demonstrate His great love for us. - P100

We have hope and confidence to draw near to God because He allowed His Son to suffer and die so that we might live forever with Him. - P100

At the moment of Jesus’ death, the curtain in the temple is torn in two. Since the time of Moses, this curtain prevented access to the holy of holies, the innermost part of the temple. Because this sacred space represented God’s dwelling place, no one could enter except for the high priest who would make atonement for the sins of God’s people, and even the priest had to first meticulously follow detailed cleansing rituals to stand in that holy space. - P100

The tearing of the curtain symbolizes that Jesus’ sacrifice fully cleanses us of sin and allows us access to the Father. - P100

Because of the blood of Jesus, a new way is opened for His people to experience eternal closeness with the holy and living God. - P100

Father, sometimes I forget how perfectly holy You are and take for granted what a special privilege it is for a sinner like me to have access to You. - P101

I thank you that the veil is torn, and I can now approach You at any time. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P101

The centurion who stood before Jesus‘ cross acknowledges Him as the Sonof God after witnessing His final moments. Jesus is buried by Joseph of Ari-mathea, who requests His body from Pilate. Mary Magdalene and Mary themother of James and Joseph observe the burial. - P103
