31Pilate said, "Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law." "But we have no right to execute anyone," they objected. - P44

37"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

38"What is truth?" retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him. - P45

39But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?"

40They shouted back, "No, not him! Give us Barabbas!" Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising. - P45

Pilate and the people care more about their personal agendas than about reaching the truth. - P46

We should remember that Jesus came to testify to the truth and that His followers are those who listen to Him and remain on the side of truth. - P46

I aim for all of my relationships to be selfless ones. I want to be more con-cerned about how I can be a blessing to others rather than how they can bea blessing to me. I remember Jesus who embodied true selflessness whenHe willingly went to the cross out of His love for the Father and His lovefor us.  - P47

I hope we all experience fulfilling and flourishing relationships thatare both grounded in and driven by love. - P47

Father, I praise You for You are the source of all knowledge and truth. When I am driven by worldly or selfish motives, help me remember Your love and grace so that I may testify to the truth and live for Your kingdom. In Your Son’s name, amen. - P47

Romans 8:35 NLT
[35] Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?

- P85

Romans 8:37 NLT
[37] No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
- P85

2 Corinthians 6:4 NLT
[4] In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.

17"You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you?" she asked Peter. He replied, "I am not." - P40

25Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him, "You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?" He denied it, saying, "I am not." - P41

26One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him, "Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?"

27Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow.
- P41

when the servant girl at the door questions Peter, he denies being one of Jesus’ disciples. While brave enough to follow Jesus after His capture, Peter is not willing to publicly proclaim his connection to his teacher.  - P42

When others question our faith and commitment to Jesus, we begin to see with greater clarity the state of our hearts. We may be tempted to respond with fear or selfishness and even deny our identity as followers of Christ. But may we not falter in our devotion. Rather, let us boldly claim our loyalty and commitment to Him. - P42

When we experience pressure or persecution, may we stand firm and follow the example of Jesus, honestly declaring the truth of God’s Word. - P42

Dear God, thank you for the example of Your Son, who told the truth even in the face of unjust suffering. May I not succumb to the pressures of this world but boldly proclaim my faith and loyalty to Him. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P43

The good news is that when loyalty is tested and proven strong, trust be-comes ever solidified. Peter is a great example of this. Although he falteredin the courtyard, the book of Acts shows that he later proved his loyalty andtrustworthiness as he boldly and faithfully declared the truth about Jesus. - P43

Help me be sensitive with His Word on a daily basis.
