2They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.

3They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. - P134

7But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. - P134

13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. - P135

14He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.

15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you." - P135

Jesus explains that when He is no longer with them, He will send the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who will prove the world to be wrong about sin, righteousness, and judgment. - P136

The Spirit who dwells within us continues to lead and guide us so that we can serve the Lord with pure hearts and minds. - P136

May we be ever dependent on our Advocate to ensure that nothing will hinder us from walking in righteousness with our God. - P136

Jesus wants to explain even more to the disciples, but they are not able to bear all the information now. Later, with the help of the Holy Spirit, they will receive more of the truth because the Spirit will tell them what they need to know. - P136

Today, we continue to understand the truth of God because of the Holy Spirit. He not only illuminates Scripture for us so that we can better understand it; He also helps transform our hearts and mind - P136

Through the Spirit, convict me of my sins so that I may repent immediately, and open my eyes when I read Your Word so that I may understand You better and give You all the glory. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P137

However, as Jesus states in John 16, the Holy Spirit proves that the worldis wrong about sin, righteousness, and judgment. The truth is that we arenot enough when it comes to standing before the holy God, but because ofJesus‘ work on the cross, we can admit that we fall short and are in need ofHis forgiveness. We can repent of our sins and receive God‘s mercy anew.
Jesus becomes the answer to calm our anxiety because only He can offertrue peace. - P137

25But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’

26"When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. - P131

Jesus promises thatthe Holy Spirit will testify about Him and they, too, must testify because theyhave been with Him from the beginning. - P131

Our endurance in this world will not be in vain because living like Christ is worth the cost. - P132

ultimately, bringing people to salvation is a spiritual battle. - P132

we have the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who works through our words and actions so that we can effectively testify about who Jesus is and what He has don. - P132

The Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son and seeks to glorify them. We can call upon the Spirit with confidence, knowing that He will fill us and help us point others to the truth about Christ. May we be bold and unafraid, trusting in the guidance of the Advocate. - P132

Help me to persevere with wisdom and boldness, and fill me with Your Spirit so that I may testify effectively about Your gospel of grace. In Your name I pray, amen. - P133
